HYDE PARK
Just north of downtown and the University of Texas, the picturesque Hyde Park neighborhood beckons with its historic charm and walkability. Craftsman bungalows and Victorian homes are nestled in with apartment homes and retail and dining options, creating a vibrant urban mix. Beyond its architectural harmony and tree-lined streets, Hyde Park emanates a warm and inviting atmosphere, and almost feels like a village within Austin.
At the heart of Hyde Park, a new commercial center has quickly become the local hangout, with First Light Books and its coffee shop, Allday Pizza, and Moogie Pilates. Terrible Love Coffee has recently opened alongside The Rosette, a performing arts center offering yoga and intimate classical guitar concerts. Old Austin can still be found in such gems as Julio’s Cafe and Mint Beauty Salon. Residents of Hyde Park can walk to pick up carefully curated cheeses from Antonelli’s Cheese Shop, and groceries from Central Market, Fresh Plus Grocery, and Tiny Grocer.
There’s an active neighborhood association, annual neighborhood parades and events, Shipe Park and pool, and even a neighborhood newsletter called the Pecan Press that’s printed and distributed monthly to keep the community connected. Hyde Park is a truly special place that offers urban convenience with a small-town feel.
